Does anyone know of a source for the snap ring (c clip) that goes on the steering shaft to keep the wheel from sliding towards the binnacle? It's a Merriman/Yacht specialties. Mine died the other day. I've tried Mcmaster & Grainger but the thickest clip they have is .047 and the one on the shaft is .0625.

Thanks,
Brian

If they have thinner clips (like .03), just stack up 2 of them

Thickness not that critcal

I just recently replaced said snap ring. Come to think of it it was thinner than the original but it still snaps into the groove and keeps the wheel from sliding forward. The only possible issue is that when you really tighten down the nut holding the wheel on you can crush the snap ring. I put some silicone on the threads that the nut goes onto. This keeps the threads from corroding and allows me to not have to crank it down too tight in that the silicone keeps it in place.
