On 08/31 Ken Palmer, S/V Liberty, mentioned a product called "snap bushings" that can be used to bush lifelines passing through holes drilled in a lifeline stanchion. Ken said that they are carried at many hardware stores. Does anyone, especially Ken, know a manufacturer's name or, better yet, a mail order source. I haven't found one in the Chesapeake Bay region or on the internet. Garry Brass S/V TASHTEGO

I'll try to get your info by Monday.

Gary, We have two local hardware stores in Rochester that carry them. We also use them where I work. I will try to find out where they were bought when I return to work Monday. Will let you know. Ken Palmer, S/V Liberty http://www.LakeOntarioSailing.com

Life Line bushes

I was having chafing problems on my lifelines where they pass through the stanchions. I found that split shroud covers can be cut to a few inches long, slipped over the lifelines and forced into the stanchion holes to provide a good bushing surface.. good luck

I found it!

I had to do a little digging, but I found a manufacturer's name and website address. The manufacturer is Heyco Products, Inc. Go to their website at http://www.heyco.com/index.htm and click on the Bushings and Plugs hyperlink. The exact part number you are looking for is 2867 (UL/CSA Description OCB-437). At least that size fits my H33. Heyco is a manufacturer selling to retailers, but I think it would be worth while calling them to see if they can send you a "sample" of the quantity you need. They may also supply you with names of distributers in your area. How many are you looking for? If you cannot obtain them, please send an e-mail to me with your address, etc. and quantity that you need. Perhaps I can help. Ken Palmer, S/V Liberty kenneth_palmer@excite.com
