I have tried to get hold of someone at Snake River Electronics. I have now read they are no longer in business? I have emailed them 4 times and have not got a reply. Anyone know what is happening? Does Catalina know anything? Albert

Snake River is out of business...

If you're having problems with one of their systems, you can get help here: http://ferriellosales.com/default.php Dennis Ferriello was SR's national sales manager for years...a few years ago they came to a NOT amicable parting of ways. Dennis decided to start his own competing company to make similar gauges that don't have the problems SR have, and hired SR's engineer (who wasn't happy with what SR would let him do either) to do it. His Profile gauges are very similar in design to the SR systems--so much so that parts are interchangeable, but MUCH better quality...not only the products, but customer service too. So much better that they've captured enough of SR's customers to put SR out of business. IMO, they're best "bang for the buck" in the industry. Dennis is VERY responsive to people who are having problems with SR systems and bends over backward to help 'em solve 'em and supply replacement parts for little--or even sometimes NO--cost. So give him a call...he'll be gad to help you.

I second what Peggy is saying.

Dennis has become a good friend down thru the years. I had the Snake River gauges on my Hunter 35.5 and also on my new Catalina 387. Tried to get Catalina to change over to Dennis's new gauges when my boat was built. They wouldn't do it at that time, however, most of my sending units have been changed over to the new version from Dennis. Dennis is a great guy to work with.

Mystery solved....

I've been trying to get a fuel sender from SR, but haven't gotten any response from them. So when I read Peggy's post, I said 'Aha!', went to the link, found they don't sell the sender, sent them and e-mail, got both an e-mail and a voice-mail from Dennis, which included their preferred source for diesel senders. I went right to the company they suggested (see link below), found the sensor and am soon to be able to cross THAT one off my 'things that Hunter didn't think were important enough to put on a sailboat in '87' list. All that took about 10 minutes - that's what I call modern networking! ;D Oh, yeah, when the sender comes, I'll cut an inspection port in the fuel tank and clean out 20 years of crud..... and that will cross off ANOTHER item on that list. I don't think I'll bother to do anything about the lack of an engine hour gauge, though.... after 20 years, it's pretty meaningless. Cheers, Bob s/v X SAIL R 8
