Smart Plug installed

Wow, that was easy. I installed the new smart plug cord and boatside plug onboard today. Ran into only one small issue...the original shore power hole was slightly offset in the screw holes, so I had to fill and re-drill the mounting holes in the bulkhead. In spite of that, the installation took less than an hour and I must admit, I am absolutely impressed with the quality of the connector. It is so nice to dispense with the old screw down lock ring. The blue "pilot" light, side locking tabs, an even the rigidity of the strain relief and relative flexibility of the cordset speak to a well thought out product. If you are in need of a new shore power cord, I highly recommend this upgrade. I am hopeful that they will come up with something similar for the dock end of the cord.

I think they have come out with a better widget. My current setup is still working and should continue for a few more years but will consider the replacement. Never liked being among the first to test new products anyways.

Smart Plug

I installed one a couple of weeks ago. The standing joke on our boat is that "it's a ten minute job". I actually finished this one in less and it is so much better( read safer) than the outdated screw on fire waiting to happen plug.

The smart plug is pricey but I sleep alot better than before. I bought the plug and cord set and an additional cord plug so we will have a spare cord.

Great product,
I just made a small adapter 2' cord set for the Honda 2000 so I can plug into the Smart Plug.

Picture is a friends power cord. If hadn't been on the boat at the time he would have gotten watch it burn to the water line. He was very lucky...
