THE HOLDING TANK ON OUR CATALINA 36 IS ONLY 17 GALLONS. I WAS WONDERING IF WE WENT TO AN ELECTRIC HEAD IF IT WOULD CONSERVE ON THE AMOUNT OF WATER WE USE TO FLUSH. WILCOX CLAIMS THAT THEIR NEWPORT SERIES HEAD ONLY USES ABOUT A PINT OF WATER PER FLUSH. IT SEEMS LIKE WE MAKE ALOT OF TRIPS TO THE PUMPOUT STATION.

Wilcox Newport is a good toilet

But a pint of water per toilet is VERY optimistic. And I think you've confused it with VacuFlush...that's the only one that makes that claim. All the specs for the Newport are here: http://www.wilcox-crittenden.com/sanitation/electric/newport.asp?bid= How much flush water is actually needed depends on what's in the bowl and how long the hose to the tank is...'cuz you have move the bowl contents all the way to tank and rinse behind it unless you want permeated hoses. However, unless you just want the push button convenience of an electric toilet, you don't have to replace your manual toilet to cut down on the amount of flush water that's filling up your tank. A manual toilet can push waste at least 6' on the "dry" setting. If you always flush using "wet," you can double or even triple the number of flushes your tank holds by simply earning to use "dry" as much as possible, switching to "wet" only to wet the bowl before use, and to bring in only enough water to rinse the bowl and head discharge hose after you've flushed the bowl contents. And btw... you don't have to SHOUT. Please turn off your caps lock.
