slime in a/c hoses

Okay, here I go again. I have slime in my a/c lines. Now, due to the slime not allowing sea water to exit my pump has burned up. HELP!Is there any thing I can do to help keep the algee growth from coming back?Thank you for any Help!

Biocide Tablets

Stagnant condensate, accumulating in the A/C drip pan, provides an ideal habitat for various bacteria, which multiply rapidly forming odorous biological slimes. As growth continues, drain lines become blocked.A/c biocide tablets consist of a slow dissolving biocide, specially developed to control slime forming bacteria and other biological growths in air conditioning condensate pansPlace the tablet in the pan at the furthest point from the drain. Replace when dissolved.

Thank you for the info. But what about the water lines. The distance from sea strainer to a/c unit is 12 feet. So far I need to clean every other month. Is this normal?

I’d guess that raw water fouling is probably pretty common, if you’re on the Banana River, and I don’t think monthly cleaning to be excessive. You’re in warm, biologically active water. Local knowledge will confirm.There’s not much you can do to prevent accumulations in your raw-water cooling intake, except to filtre it, and clean (strainer) as required (as you seem to be doing). BTW: You can perform a fresh-water backflush from the strainer to the through-hull when cleaning.HTH,Gord

Try This

Go to Home Depot /Lowes/Wal*Mart. Get a small bottle of Bromine tablets for spas. Keep one tablet in the intake strainer for the A/C. You should see a significent reduction in biological growth in your A/C system.
