Sliding galley sink

Hello everyone, I was wondering how the sink in the sliding galley drained into the fiberglass funnel. Does the water just fall from the drain into the funnel? What if the water does not drain, it floods the cabin? Or is there some kind of connection to the funnel? My 73' Catalina 22' #2113 did not come with a galley, but I would like to add one. I have read the galley postings and none describe how the water gets from the sink to the funnel. I'm in the process of adding a galley for extended stays aboard. Thanks for the information, Rick

Yes, it does. Just observe.

Center Drain over Funnel

My 75 C22 just needs to have the sink drain centered over the funnel and the valve between the funnel and the seacock in an open position. We made a mark on the outside of the sliding galley and a mark perpendicular to the center of the funnel on it's supporting seat so that we can easily line the drain up with the funnel when we slide the galley into place. And yes, if it misses the funnel, it all ends up inside the boat. Dick

Fine tuning the adjustment

What Dick said about adding a mark so that the hose from the drain lines up with the center of the funnel is a good idea. We did that too. Later, I drilled another hole in the bottom of the galley to line up the hose, so that when the galley is slid all the way out and against the cushion on the Stb. side, the hose would line up perfectly with the center of the funnel. There are many things that you can do to improve the galley. I made my sink pump electric. But now that my boys are 16 and 17, they want me to take the galley out of the boat just to have more room. I don't know what we are going to do next. You certainly shouldn't drink the water from the water tank. Another thing that I did is add a 1 loop handle, similar to the ones on the cabin top, to pull it out and push it in. I also added little pieces of teflon under the galley to make it slide easier. Another thing that is helpful is to add a little stick, about 1 inch square by about a foot long on the hatch cover in the starboard compartment, so that when the galley is pushed all the way in, all the STUFF in that compartment is on the aft side of the stick. That way you can push the galley in, without always having to go back to that compartment to clear the way. Aldo
