A friend of mine is looking for a tie up system that will allow his boat to ride up and down with water level changes. He had found one but can't remember the name and we have been unable to locate anything on the web. Does anyone know of some brands? I assume this might be easier found in tidal areas. Any help is appreciated. Thanks!

Check these out

They are called hurricane hoops. They looked really good. Saw them at the Norfolk Boat Show. http://www.hurricanehoops.com/store/

When I lived in a tidal area.....

... we attached 1/2 inch galvanized pipes to the pilings, then attached the mooring line with a spliced loop and thimble, and the bitter end toward the boat. The line slid up and down the pipe attached to the piling. Home made, durable not unattractive Good luck Jeff

They look great...

...until or unless they roll off the top from a surge tide.

Hurricane hoops:

They look great, but $180-230 for bunch of beads on a string? I know everyone loves to rip off boaters, but this is ridiculous. You can probably make some out of simple components available independently for 1/10 the cost!!!!

Looking for a slide system

I aggree that they seem very expensive. I talked to my frient and he is looking for a slide system that will move up and down with the lake level changes. In the Great lakes we don't have the tides but we can have a significant change in lake levels when the wind shifts, I have actually seen the river flows reversed from the rising water. These have been good ideas and I will keep checking back to see what others come up with. Thanks, Mark
