I was wondering if any other 260 owners have an issue getting the slack out of the Luff of the sail, sometimes when we raise even tough the tack and luff seem tight when we fill the sail it seems loose and wrinkled along the luff , the sequence we go through when raising is:

Head up into wind
Slacken the clew haul
Ensure boom vang is slack
Raise the main until tight
tighten the clew haul
let the topping lift go

Did you make sure your mains sheet is slackened off?

Also, your outhaul can be tightened to make sure the clew is tightened back on the boom. (this got mine fixed up)

The last thing that I can think of is if the main is all the way up. I put some wax in my sail slot as well as on the sail slugs. It now flies all the way up without needing the winch.

Hope this helps.

I have been fighting with the same thing and was reminded yesterday about the bolt rope shrinking. I have seen on a forum (Most likely here?) about the same problem.
The fix it to loosen the bolt rope at one end. IE take out the stitches that hold it inside the sail.
I'm not sure if its the top or bottom that should be loosened. I'll try and find a link to that page and post it.
NOTE: this isin't a "proper fix". It's a quick fix that will let you get a few more years out of your sail.

Here is some of how it started.
Re: Main Sail Issue

When you have the sail raised as far as it will go, look along the mast and see if the luff is tight. If it is, your bolt rope may have shrunk, preventing the sail from stretching to its full height. If this is the problem, the cure is to remove stitching through the bolt rope at the bottom of the luff, stretch the sail out, and restitch. I had to do this a year or so ago, and it was not difficult. -Paul ShareThis
