Hi everyone! Last summer I bought a 1980 HR 38, No. 104, and started to refit her. The teak deck was completely removed, reworked and resetted last autumn. The skylights are still original and the glasses are pretty worn. Does any one know the manufacturer? Is it possible to exchange only the safety glass ( plexiglass?) or is it necessary to completely replace the skylights? Thanks for any hint or advise. If anybody needs infos on the teak deck project or on the rudder repair, please let me know.

Hello - I bought a HR 38 this year (no.10 - 1978) also with "worn" hatches. At Southampton boatshow i made contakt with a company spesialising in hatch rebuilding (www.eagleboatwindows.com - i think!) - they estamated the cost to apx. 100 punds pr rebuild inkluding tax, rubber sealing and glass fited into the old frame. My hatces are original and are from GEBO (http://www.boomsma.com/english/) -they could not replace the old hatces but could supply the rubber sealings. The norwegian dealer clames that theire new hatches with radius 55 is eksaktly the same but with differen positions of holes for mounting the hatch to deck (filling old hols and making new for new hatches) - I am considering changing to new hatches because the cost of sending the old ones to uk from norway and rebuilding them is not far from bying new ones. apx 330 pound for new 550x550 hatches. I have used some time trying to get companys in norway and Oslo district to do the job of changing the plexi and found several that can do it but they are very expensive - so it is not an option her in oslo. According to eagel boat company the "cracks" are apx. 2mm. Orginal on my boat is 12mm thiknes. The Teak deck is original on my boat - but in fearly good condition - apx that is the cost of changing the deks in germany? - did you do alot your self? I see on my rudder that it has been "disformed/the filling is gode" around the "hinges/metal" brackets, I understand that this is fearly normal - what sort of repair did you do to your rudder?
