What is the best procedure to remove, recaulk and reinstall the fixed skylight in the main cabin of a Hunter 28? Has anyone done this procedure on any of the Hunters?

yes I did on my 33.5...

And it was a major PITA. Took me three tries to get it right. Serious design flaw on the part of Hunter because 1) the flange in set down into the deck so any water will automatically intrude into the cabin top and, 2) Plexiglass and fiberglass have different expansion coefficients which makes a good seal nearly impossible. I looked for an opening hatch to replace it but because of the odd size it would have to be customm made for big $$ so I bought a pice of 1/2 inch plex and made my own. I used a whole tube of silicone to seal that SOB and finally got it to seal up (knock on fiberglass)The only advice I can give is when you caulk it and set the glass in, don't tighten the screws down completely, let the caulk set up and then tighten to create a good seal.

Here is what I did

I took the bottom plastic piece off and caulked the heck out of the window. Easier than taking the top window out and trying to get a good bead of caulk. Worked good!

had the same leak on my h28. removed both interior and exterior fixed lights, cleaned and removed old sealant (pita part) and resealed with silicon. took about 2 hrs, looks better and leak resolved.
