I have a little movement in the skeg of my Hunter 34. (the thing that the prop shaft goes through just forward of the prop.) It is minor but the surveyor suggested rebedding it on the next haulout. I did read a post from quite some time ago but can no longer find it. If anyone has done this, I would appreciate any feedback. Thanks.

Skeg?

I am little confused by your post, the skeg is the part the rudder is attached to and is behind the prop. The cutlass bearing is in front of your prop, is that what you are referring to?

I am uncertain what it is called. It is just in front of the prop and I think houses the cutlass bearing.

Strut

The metal piece that holds the prop shaft is called the strut or prop strut. Check the HOW archives for past advice or call/contact Hunter Marine and ask how the factory beds them.

I hope your'e talking about the cutlass bearing and not the actual strut. I tried to pull my strut to replace the cutlass bearing, but ended up moving the engine instead because the strut wasn't budging.
