Photo of rubber plugs for bridle wires to raise the mast?

Well not having raised the mast yet I see that I need those rubber plugs to place in the mast so that the bridle wires don't fall out in the process...

Is that what these plugs are for?

There are 2 sizes... Now that I think about it I probably need both sizes for the other standing rigging and the "bridle wires."

The plugs are inexpensive and I just want to know what I may need.

Any information you may have would be an asset.

Sincerely,

ABK

Photo looks like the small plugs that are supposed to keep the t-ball at the top of your stays in place in their slots when you're raising and lowering the mast. The question seems to come up often. I recall that they are available here or from Hunter. OR you can quickly fashion your own with a pocket knife and a plastic "cork" from a value-priced bottle of wine. Works like a charm and available in fashionable black. More importantly though, as a displaced Philly guy, I'm wondering if there's any hope for the Phils' season. -Ed

Ed, thanks for the reply and the cork idea... As for the Phils... they are a last half of the season ball team. Or at least I hope so... Not looking to good so far...

I have used white electrical tape around the mast to hold mine in the past, which is a bit of a hassle and works only so-so. Assuming of course you carve the plugs from synthetic cork to the proper size, how well do these work; how tightly do they hold the stays? And, assuming this is a good solution, any recommendations on a decent quality wine that is reasonably priced (preferably a dry wine) that has this type of cork? :)

Re: Plugs

Those are the right plugs. My Precision use the same. I think I got mine from Dwyer. They install above the t-ball in the slot, and are kind of a tight fit on my boat.
