I have a 1977 Catalina 30 with a stuffing box that needs repacking... What size of packing do I need and is there a specific type necessary or preferred? I bought a package of 1/4" "PTFE Flax Shaft Packing" at the local West Marine since they had no 3/16" in stock (it should be in today though...). The boat was repowered in the mid 90's with a Universal diesel.
