I am restoring a colombia 22'. what size of motor should I get?

I replaced a 15 hp 4stroke Honda with a new Mercury 9.9 ele start 4stroke and it has plenty of power to push my 22' boat. I will always buy new OB's, (never used). I like the ele start as there's not much room in a 22 cockpit and my Gfriend got tired of me elbowing her. It's amazing to me that most of the people I sail with use 'junk' motors but they drive $30,000 cars/trucks.

7.5 Should work

I am restoring a Columbia C-22 and the last person that had the boat used a 7.5 hp Evenrude. Most people around here buy a 9.9 hp to get under the 10 hp limit for needing to register it as a motor boat. Good luck on your restoration.
