My sink pump ain't pumping. Its electric and runs OK. Is there a filter in there somewhere that could be clogged? Also, is the anchor light on top of the mast, or is the anchor light the light in the front of the mast that is up by the spreaders? TIA Jim

Anchor Light

The light at the spreaders is your steaming light. Use this one when you use your bow and stern nav lights when navigating at night under power(not under sail) When navigating at night while under sail, use just the bow and stern light. Your anchor light usually is on the top of the mast. My Hunter22 didn't have an anchor light, so I mounted one at the top of the mast. As for your sink pump, mine has a manual hand pump without any kind of filter. One thing you can check is to make sure that your water tank is vented. If it is not, a vacuum will occur not letting water out. Another thing you can do is remove the hose from the pump and use a siphon and see if any water comes out. Or try blowing air or water back into this hose and see if that will clear the clog. Good luck!

Have you looked for a filter?

Problem could be a clogged filter...sediment from the bottom of the tank that's clogged the tank outlet to the pump...or--depending on the type of pump and age--the pump may need a new diaphragm or impeller...or your water tank vent may be blocked, causing the pump to pull a vacuum. You're gonna have to do some investigating to find the problem. To find out whether the pump is ok, disconnect the outlet hose from the water tank and stick it in a pan of water...turn on the pump. If it pumps water out of the pan, the pump is fine. If it doesn't, the pump needs some repair. Since the motor runs, it most likely only needs a new diaphragm or impeller.

Air Lock?

Hi Jim, I used to have a Hunter 22 with an electric sink pump and if I ran my tank dry, it would introduce air into the line causing an air lock. Everything ran fine, it just didn't pump water. I know this is an older thread by now, but if you haven't solved the problem, this might be it. To solve it, I'd slip a piece of hose over the sink faucet and apply a little suction. Watch out - the water will come flying out resulting in water everyhere if you're not careful. This may not be the most elegant solution, but it always worked for me. Cheers
