Stay Aboard

Chris Burti has it absolutely right! On a hot, sunny, Bahamian, day; I used to tow myself behind “Southbound”. Wearing mask & snorkel, I’d hang on to a floating rescue line (/w the Admiral watching) about 30 feet aft of the stern. It was a great way to cool off, while observing the seabed. It was fairly easy to hang on, and pull myself back to the boat at DEAD IDLE. It became an exhilarating ride, and slightly difficult to return to the stern, at very slight throttle (say 2.5 knots?). Anything quicker was out of the question! An injured party will NOT self-rescue at 5 knots! Most of us won’t self-rescue at 5 knots. Chris was very lucky to even grab on to their towed warp, and his extraordinary skill & conditioning was essential to the happy outcome. The WHOLE strategy should be designed to KEEP YOU ABOARD !!! OMHO, Gord
