Simrad WP30 installation on H280

I just purchased a Simrad Wheelpilot WP30 to install on my '99 H280. All the installation hardware included is for a cylindrical pedestal. Did anyone install this autopilot on the H280? How? I would appreciate any photos, diagrams, advice, etc. Thank you! Adrian

check the archives - last year in june/July there was a conversation about the same issue with the 29.5. Problem was as you encountered. Simrad makes a kit - mucho expensive (179??) but worse still there is not enough room between the pedestal and the wheel to fit the WP30 and the kit. Solutions?? 1/ cut away the pedestal for a big ugly job, or 2) get an extension for the wheel shaft ro a new shaft made -- more big expense. I gave up along with a couple others and decided to stick with the Autohelm product even though it isn't as good a pilot. If anyone figured it out in the meanwhile, it hasn't been posted here yet as far as I know. Bill Murray Good Faith h29.5
