Mr. Willis, I met you and purchased a "kit" of Island Girl products at the Oakland Sail Expo in April. I also bought a bottle of your "Simply Brilliant" wax. The other day, I began to apply the wax to my boat. The wax came out of the bottle all lumpy and grainy. Needless to say, I did not try and apply it. What is wrong - did the product age in the bottle? The bottle does state to store the product at over 50 degrees F. I kept the bottle in my dock box. I would guess that the temp would not be that low here in the SF bay area during the summer. Please advise. Rodney Kidd S/V Flying Bear C-38 #297

Same problem

First time I used SB it was fine. After sitting in my lazerette it turned thick, I assume it is crosslinking in the bottle? How do I now remove it from the boat Mr. Willis? These are the best products I have ever found to keep the shine on my '78 dark blue gelcoat.

NEW SIMPLY BRILLIANT

If you go to our website (www.Islandgirlproducts.com) you will see that we have had some problems with the Superwax "kicking off" in the bottle, particularly with part-used product and at high temperatures.Much of the problem seemed related to separation of the emulsion. This problem has been addressed with an improved (all one phase) formulation that has been tested extensively. THe new porduct is even easier to use (it's more "runny" and is waterproof within minutes. It now contains 3 resins that set at different rates, including one that is almost "instant". I would ask anyone with this problem to call or e-mail via the website for a FREE REPLACEMENT BOTTLE. People who used the previouis version right away after purchase got the same results as demonstrated at the SAIL EXPO. Initial supplies of the new version are limited so please contact me before I go the the plant in Oakland early in October. Some 1 Oz samples are also available for previous customers, with payment of postage ($4.00 refundable with purchase of larger quantities) I really value customer loyalty and try to make sure that no-one gets disappointed. Thanks A.L. Willis Pres IGP ANthon

If you treated the boat with SEA GLOW and Superwax earlier, it will bead water for a year and significant oxidation will not return. However shine should be maintained by Periodic wiping over with SILKENSEAL. Giid idea to wipe with our cleaner and reapply a new coat of SB Superwax every year. Let me know if you would like replacemend of part used bottle that has "set up". Thanks, anywway for the nice comments. Should you ever need to remove the Swax, prior to painting you would, of course, use a good grease and wax remover (containign xylene, toluene etc) and wet sand. A fish-eye eliminator (actually a low visc silicone) is always a good idea in the paint. Jim W
