Silly Question - Windex!

I received a Windex with my new 240, I could not see how to attach it so I took tha lazy way out and tapped it with electrical tape to the mast light. In the first heavy wind it self destructed (due to owner stupidity). I am now about to order a Windex 10 from Davies Marine. Does anyone know how it attaches, do the 240's (1999) have a special mount already or will the windex come with a mount that can be attached to the mast is some fashion.Thanks for all the tolerance for silly questions on this site?

The only silly questions...

...are those that are never asked.The windex on my 240 was originally mounted in a hole on the aft side of the masthead (the area near the topping lift bolt). I believe nearly all windvanes come with a base that is threaded and can be through-bolted or other similar mast attachment.If you trailer, remove the windex before towing. Vibration will loosen the set screw.Mark KisselKittiwake/98H240

Look into it further

You can get a version that utilizes your VHF antenna as the base, otherwise, as in the previous post, mount into the mast through hole, in any event, you can always make up a small plate, SS or AL, to offset the vane aft, through bolting the plate to the mast.

I placed a picture there of how I did mine. I bought a peice of aluminim about 2" wide and a 1/4" thick then placed my Windex, antenna, mast light, and a spreader light, on it.
