My 1980 H27 has the original Signet knotlog MK267a. It works great but shows about 2 kts slow. I can calibrate it and it works perfectly until shut off and then when turned on it is 2 kts slow again. It will not stay calibrated which I attribute to a dead lithium battery that holds the memory. I don't have a manual on the knotlog. I replaced the existing 3.6V battery and the knotlog was then 30Kts off and would not calibrate. Removing the new 3.6V battery, got it working as usual (without memory) Looking at the printed circuit board, it shows 6V at the battery location where I removed a 3.6 V battery. Anyone out there have a manual with a schematic or experience with the Knotlog?

Signet

My experience with Signet was all negative. I finally replaced the unit wit Standard, now no problems. Yours has to be the oldest surviving Signet unit in existence. Maybe Phil should have a contest!

Signet Knot Meter

I had them repair my meter last year. The address is on the back of the meter. You can get the number from director assistance. I also think that the number is listed in their adds in the SAIL MAGAZINE. You can call them up and they had a very helpful technical rep who answered my questions on the phone. the total cost of rebuilding my unit (the button and display had water intrusion) was about $75.00 A lot less than a new unit. The repair took less than 2 weeks. You can e-mail me tonight if you need the phone number. I have it in my home office.
