I have a Signet 267a knotlog but the numbers can't be read because they are faded. There does seem to be some changing of numbers but very faint. Has anyone had this repaired and what was the approx cost? I would like to get an idea before removing and paying shipping. Maybe someone would have one sitting in the basement that they have replaced with different equip that they would like to sell me? Dave

Thanks

Thanks Gord. I had prevoiusly checked it out. I have called them to see if they could give me a ballpark what something like that would cost to repair but I can't seem to get to talk to a human. Just wanted to get an idea to see if it is even worth shipping there> Dave

I have four Signet instruments, Depth, Speed, Wind Speed and Wind Direction. The depth works ok but the alarm sounded last summer in deep water and I canot turn it off. The knot meter read 0, but the sensor tested ok with the electrical tester. Since the wind vane and cups didn't turn with regularity, I presume that they need new bearings. Does anyone have any experience with Signet on repairing these components. Signet offered to test them out at no cost, but do I send them in for testing and repairs($$$) or do I search for new instruments that communicate with each other?

Spare wind vane

Rick: I replaced my Signet instruments last winter and I kept the functioning wind vane. Contact me off-line (z_9776 at yahoo.com)if you're interested in it. Al

I have Signet wind, speed and depth instruments (probably 20 years old). The speed and depth share the same display. First the depth sounder wasn't registering correct depths, then the wind instrument wasn't working. After talking to Signet in Torrance per phone they had me send the unit in which I did for eval. They sent it back and said it was fine and that it must be the sensor. This is long story of shipping and them sending wrong parts over the summer when I needed the units. In short they were incompetent from my perspective. I had a lot of expense on parts and shipping and still don't have a depth or wind system that works. I won't waste any more time and money with Signet.
