Oday 272 Stockton
My new-to-me O'Day 272 has built-in side tanks for water and waste. I bought a manual to research these tanks, but it referred to other tanks, which were installed under the settees. I have heard that other classes from the same production facility have similar tanks. Can anyone help me with understanding the piping, cleaning, lay-out, etc. of these tanks? Why, if there is a waste tank on the starboard side, is there a vinyl flex tank under the v-berth? How can I empty it at a pump-out?

Stockton, Where? I'm in Wichita, Ks.....the 272 the head holding tank for the 272 is under the v-berth....the 30 gal. water tank is under the port settee in the main cabin..
that is the 272 LE that we have....The head holding tank can be pumpted directly over-board (no no), pumped to the holding tank, which can then be emptied at a pump out station or again overboard....the pump out fitting is on the starboard deck near the head hatch above the hanging locker....O'Day may have varied this setup
but mine is as described above....The vinyl flex tank you describe is the head holding tank......patrick

272 Sl

Our 1987 272 SL has the fresh water tank under the port settee and the holding tank under the V-birth also with the pump out fitting on the starboard forward deck. No tank on the starboard side.

We are moored in Stockton Lake, Stockton Missouri. Hope you enjoy your Oday as much as we do.

We have enjoyed ours for 20 something years. We bought it new in the dead of winter & snowstorm in 1987....I visited it yesterday at the lake to say hello and she is still beautiful....she is in the water with a bubbler this year.....today is to be in the 60's though.....a clear, calm, sky this morning. Did we get your question answered?

Thank you! Stockton, MO? My nephew as a restaurant in Colombia, MO... Anyway, I was looking at what, apparently, is a shelf or ledge, which is fiber-glassed to the interior, and which is used for attaching further shelving. I thought it was a tank...

Re: Tanks...

this is the hull liner. There is no cabin top liner. It's like the liner(s) in Catalinas. It helps in offering an attachment point for various items....I am assuming your boat has a marine head. We've got 4 272LE's at our club in Wichita....One older 27. All are great sailers.
