Hi all hope everyone is out there sailing and enjoying all our boats... time is way too short in the northeast..oh well check out my new head area floor. last winter I found some evidence of wet areas around my lower bulhead walls in and around head area. I yanked up the drain and tile floor and then plywood, and found a nasty mess of wet and rotted wood all around the walls. I cut out most and reinforced and rebuilt areas by both salon and forpeak doors. After I fixed and painted and glassed everything I needed to figure out some type of floor system, that would let air in this area and let me have a pan and drain in the port side where shower is. I found a guy in florida, I sent him a template he did a fantastic job, I could not be happier, it was expensive, however the quality of the 5/4 teak grate he made me was absolutly worth it. here are a couple of pics. .Red

I think it's OK to give the craftsman a plug. Who is he?
I don't get the underneath but that may be just be the pictures. Is that a copper pan?

yes I made a copper pan to catch the shower water,I will install a small pump also. is name is Steve from S& P custom woodwork, in Florida. I have no affiliation to them, they are very talented. It really fits in, like it grew there......Red

Andy, its a typical head, shower area between the Vee, and main salon, with doors to seperate you from both areas. there is a stringer that runs forward stern that has 2- 2x8 pt boards bolted thru for middle support. the port side I made the copper pan so when you shower it will drain to the pan. Its also supported around the perimeter, it just drops in its pretty heavy locked in place....Red
