Does anyone know of there is a tool made just for unscrewing the clear Shurflow raw water strainer bowls? OR a generic one that works really well. I have two size strainers; 1 for the ac intake and 1 for the engine intake.

Pentair Shurflo Raw Water Strainers

Thanks

Once the filter is open, try lubricating the threads with a little silicone grease. I've used the dielectric grease for electrical connections. Makes removal much easier.

Better than that, ensure that you lubricate the gasket on both sides with a NON PETROLEUM grease such as Super Lube to ensure the clear bowl comes off by hand next time.

In a pinch for now (and if you have one), use a strap type oil filter wrench but go reeeeeeeal easy on how much force you use. As a last resort, use the wrench recommended by @sail sfbay .

We just bought one and it is sitting on the table, so I took a look. With an o-ring like that it shouldn't need to be tightened all that much. If you have to, get a new o-ring. As said above a strap wrench would probably do just fine.

I simply tap the ridges on the bowl with a screwdriver and rubber hammer. They loosen up immediately. I hand tighten them going back on. Works fine. I will pick up the wrenches though. On my boat all the seacocks save one are in a "farm" under one deck cover. I'm not sure the wrench can be effectively used in that configuration. We'll see.
