drock10,
As was stated previously, just disconnect the fore stay and the two front lower shrouds. Everything else can remain tensioned. I sped up my mast raising and tuning by installing quick release connectors, available at West Marine. They use mechanical advantage to tension the standing rigging to the same degree each time.
Should you go the route of the quick release connector, you will need to re-swage the wire rigging that will involve removing the current swage, cutting the excess wire, re-swaging the wire, and tuning the rigging again. Consider it a project for yourself as I did or get a professional involved. A pro could help you avoid a headache from making the wire too long or short- long not so bad, short involves a little more ingenuity at the masthead I can share if there is any interest.
Last note, make sure all rigging lines are clear of snags and ready to tension without twist in the shackles since that is another annoyance while stepping the mast.
Fair winds,
Derek
