Hunter experts - Does anyone know what the recommended/allowable/appropriate shroud tensions are for a Hunter 30 tall rig? I just bought a new main and during an observation cruise with the sailmaker we reshaped the mast. Afterwards I measured the tensions with a Loos gauge and found the uppers and lowers off their scale (48 for 1/4" cable) at 3000 lbs. That sounds pretty high. My first thought was that the Loos gauge values are psi not lbs is that right? Thanks for your help. - Charlie

Shroud Tension Dimples

Charlie, I am trying to make the same determination but apparently too late!! The area of the hull below the chain plates for the forward lower shrouds both port and starboard now have dimples.I slackend the the shrouds and the dimples are slowly disappearing. Would chain plates directly to the hull work better than the knees that are working now. Any info you have or anyone else can provide would be helpfull.....Thanks.....Bob
