I have a 1975 Catalina 27 ft sloop. Can not find information for recomended shroud tension (3 on each side). I know this changes re condition, type of sailing, but there must be a start point. I am a crusire....no racing... no heavy weather. Thanks.

Most sailors don't know the numbers

Typically, most sailors (and riggers) adjust their shrouds ad follows:

Adjust the shrouds so the mast is straight and centered in the boat.

Take the boat out sailing.

Tighten the leward shrouds by hand to take up the slack. Count the turns on each turnbuckle as you tighten.

Tack.

Tighten up the new leward shrouds to take up the slack an equal number of turns as you did on the other side.

Repeat as often as necessary.

Sail back to your slip. Check to make sure that the mast it still straight and that the top of the mast is still centered in the boat. Pin the turnbuckles with ring-dings or cotter pins as appropriate to keep the turnbuckles from loosening.

Crack open an adult beverage.

Almost all Catalina Association websites have the original owner's manual for rigging, and Catalina's is one of the better ones I've seen. It worked great for our C22, our C25 and our C34 - and the manuals were all the same since the rigs were the same: masthead rigs, upper shrouds, forward and aft lowers and single (and sometimes adjustable) backstays.

So go to the C27 Association website and read the manual. If you can't find one there, here's ours (see pages 19 & 20 of the PDF): http://www.c34.org/manuals/1988/1988-C34-Owners.pdf
