Rollers
Don't waste your money. When I bought my Catalina 30 eight years ago, I made rollers for the front shrouds if you don't mind disconnecting the front shrouds.Go to a hardware store and by a 8 foot sections of outside PVC pipe(UV resistant) and 4 end caps for the pipe and 2 stainless washers that are about the same outside diameter as the end caps and with a hole large enough to pass the shroud.Cut the pipe in half, now you have 2 - 4 foot sections. Drill a hole in the center of each of the end caps, large enough to pass the shroud through.Disconnect one shroud, remove the turnbuckle. Slip the end cap over the shroud. Now slip the pipe over the shroud and then the other end cap. Use the washer as a bearing on top of the turnbuckle. With the shroud through all the pieces, press the caps in place on the pipe. Do this last because if you put the end caps on first it will be difficult to thread the shroud through 4 feet of pipe and get out the hole on the cap and the other end. Thread the turnbuckle back on the stay.Do the same on the other side.Tension all your shrouds to the specs you like.Cost very little and is very strong.See http://www.sailthehudson.com/images/Julia2.jpg for a bad pic of the 8 year old shroud roller.
