Where do the shrouds attach on the hunter 23.5. My uppers are attached to the forward u-bolts and the lowers attached to the aft. From looking at photo's of similar boats, it seems like most are set up the other way around. It's only a few inches between the bolts, but mine just does not seem right. Thanks for the info. According to the drawing in my 23.5 manual, the uppers go to the rear u-bolt.

I agree with uppers to the rear

...for these reasons: 1) if rigged the other way, the shrouds cross and the vinyl boots get crushed and bent. 2) On my 1995 H23.5, when rigged the other way, I can move the upper shroud fore and aft and the spreader will pivot at the mast connection. When the uppers are attached to the rear U-bolts, everything is solid and doesn't move. This question has come up many times, with people on both sides of the answer. Some say it doesn't matter, in which case I have my preference for the reasons above. I don't recall anybody actually giving a logical or technical reason for the other way, other than "because so-and-so said so".

now the expert speaks.

attache the uppers to the rear. Understood? You may not know me but I was a culprit to get Hunter to build this boat.
