Shroud Attachment Hardware

With the mast removed for the winter on my 1991 Legend 37.5, I thought I would rebed the chainplates. The chainplates are stainless steel discs, about 4" diameter, with three small welded arms used as attachment points for the shrouds. There are three philips head machine screws that attach each chainplate to the boat. I know that most of the hardware on this boat is screwed into tapped plates embedded in fiberglass. The chainplates are a little different, however. They appear to be attached by the machinew screws to a stainless steel post. The post runs from the underside of the deck to the hull/keel. Can I just remove the screws, clean and rebed the chainplates and then reattach with the machine screws? I am concerned that because of the high tension loads in the shrouds, there may be nuts on the bottom side of the machine screws?
