Any one ever tried to replace the standard shroud adjusters with turnbuckles? Or replace the split ring clevis pins with detent ball clevis pins? I have one of the detent ball type for the boom gooseneck and I would love to add these to the forestay (that one is a PITA to get to), maybe the shrouds. Thanks, John

The only problem with my shroud adjusters is one time I was taking down the mast and felt a tug on the right adjuster. It was turned at an angle, and bent as the mast came down, pulled on the wire, and bent it sideways. It's useable but just looks like crap because of the bend. The detent ball pin is a great idea. Where did you order yours from?? I've only had one person say it is a bad idea as there is (some) room for failure of the ball mechanism, whereas the split ring has less of a chance to break or fail. I think BOTH are VERY unlikely, and will probably order some when I hear of a source.

This is where I got the first one for the boom gooseneck. I think I got the 1/4" by 1" for that connection. It is a great addition. This is the west marine link below. http://www.westmarine.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?storeId=10001&langId=-1&catalogId=10001&productId=539 as far as failure..the only think that I would worry about it the ball not being large enough to withstand a force tying to pull it out with out the button pushed in. The Shear strength of a solid vs hollow rod is not that great, IIRC from college, it is something like 10% less, if that. John
