This photo was taken two days ago looking north across Lake Superior. Yes, that white stuff is ice!!

Fortunately , the bay is clear. It opened two days before the record of May 14.

Final conclusions as to my shrink wrap project.

I have two bent stanchions due to my less than ideal design. (Tying strapping from the top of one stanchion over the center support and down the the stanchion on the other side. The many feet of snow that then melted to ice might have weighed a thousand pounds. Next year I will tie to the toe rail or run a 2x4 across the boat to prevent them from bending. The real solution is Increasing the pitch so everything slides off. This will be easier with the mast up so I can use the boom.
Two stanchions at $49 each is a very cheap lesson . Over all , I say learn to shrink wrap and save yourself big money each fall. Better yet, learn to sew and make a canvas cover.
