Shower not working

I'm sure this can't be too tricky, but the shower in the head doesn't seem to work. There is no valve, knob, or lift rod to activate the shower. The knob on the back of the shower head (spray adjustment?)doesn't seem to do anything, and the manual says to just leave it on its hook, turn on the sink, take it down, and use it. Hmmm. Am I missing something here?

Possible missing link: Connect to sink faucet?

Shower head

I'm going a little bit from memory here. On our 290 it seems that there is something that shuts off the sink valve and diverts the water to the shower head. It either pulls up at the connection or there is some kind of lever, should be right on the faucet. Also, there is a rod that goes through the shower end that turns the water on and off. That needs to be open to get flow, push it the other way and it closes (at least mostly). Hope this helps. Dan Jonas (S/V Feije)

diverter valve

There should be a diverter valve somewere on the sink faucet. Mine is a black pullup knob on the faucet in front of the sink stopper control. Another common diverter is a pull-down diverter on the aerator.

Figured it out!

Thanks everyone. After reading the suggestions, I took a good look at it today. There is no obvious diverter on the faucet, and yes Nick, that was the trick. Just pull up where the hose connects to the faucet. Wish the manual would have explained it like that. And Peggie, thanks for the fresh water recommissioning article. That bleach/water solution took care of the nasty tap water. I'd say it tastes almost good enough to drink. Glad these forums are around for newbies like me!
