We bought a used 86 Cat 30 last year and when I turn on the shower
Sum pump the water comes out the valve on the port side of the bow.
Is there a sea cock or something that I'm missing in order for it to drain through the stern.
Cheers

The only solution I see is you having to trace the hoses and figure it out. There is no telling what Previous Owners had in mind.

On our boat a PO had rigged the head to a hidden valve in the galley that T'ed into the manual bilge pump. They would do their business then use the manual pump to shoot it overboard via the above water transom thru hull. Nasty nasty nasty.

Just an example. Good luck.

We owned a 1986 30 Catalina for 12 years. The shower drained directly into the bilge. There was no separate pump for the shower drain. No through haul to open. The plus side was the bilge got cleaned and flushed every time we did.

thats all well and good till one day it is left too long and the shower water souers in the bilge....i like having a sump pump and collector box in the drain in order to isolate the shower drain water that way you don't have to have the smell ever

I agree with Woodster, running pump to drain the shower is on my list of things to do. If you let that shower water set in the bilge for a week and you will smell why its not good. would love to hear some options on how to reroute it.

Most newer Catalinas combined the head intake with the shower sump pump outlet into one thru hull.

Find a manual for a newer Catalina 30 (online, you can find it) and check the plumbing pages for how they did it.

My 1987 MKII drains into the bilge - BUT I have a bait pump attached directly to the drain hose sitting in the bilge. it has a manual switch in the head that pumps the shower drain water back up to the head sink so it drains through the same through-hull and my bilge is dry.

It pumps at about the same speed as the shower fills, so its a good match. supposedly that pump can run dry without damage, it sometimes gets vapor lock and you have flip the switch off and on to get it pumping again but works okay for me.
The other option would be a tray/box with an auto-sensing pump. Something like this:

I have a 1983 Catalina TR, likewise the shower used to drain into the sump.........I have placed a plastic box with a sump pump/auto switch in it. into which drains the shower and condensate from the AC. The input of both is sufficiently high as to fill and then pump out, if the bilge were to get any water (normally dry) then it would enter the box at a higher level.
Result, dry and clean bilge !
