Heres an interesting one. How in the world do you change the drain hose from the shower drain to the sump? The bilge clearance is nill. I think the drain is leaking into the foward blige and rusting the mast support beam.

Change the hose

I had the same problem changing out the bilge pump hose my HC33. Pushing a hose under the liner and up to the starboard thruhull is almost impossible. If you can get to the end of the hose you are trying to replace, poke a hole in the sidewall near the end. Tie a strong line and tie it off to the end of the hose. Go to the other end of the hose and pull it through. The line will be your return line (messenger). Poke the new hose at the end and tie the line and pull through going back the opposite direction. This should work for you. Good luck!

hose replacement

I replaced a bilge hose on my 37c this weekend. Similar problem, longer bigger hose, even more tight spaces. I tried attaching the old end to the new end and pulling, but the old one just exploded. Instead I used a coathanger: Poke the wire thru the space your trying to thread the hose thru. A coat hanger is easier to push than a hose. Then thread the hose over the wire and push. The wire makes a "path" for the hose. It helps to drink a beer first. It's a nasty job. Good luck..

drain drain

well the problem really is the hose from the shower stall to the sump pump. That connection is under the deck and I cant fit my hands under to work on it. Eventually the sump pumpout hose will get changed also. I figure I'll use a barbed connector to connect the old and new hoses and just pull the new one through.

New twist to a bilge hose..

I needed the bilge hose replaced on my 82H33 and called on one of the local marina fixit guys to do it, because I didn't have enough beer on hand to try it myself, and all my hangers were plastic . He ran a single piece of thinwalled pvc pipe from the bilge, under the flooring, straight to the cabinet under the sink in the head. He then clamped standard bilge hose to each end to finish the job. Very ingenious I thought, and it probably has less resistance pumping out the bilge because of its smooth sides. You didn't say what you are sailing, Rad, but on the 82H33 the sump and bilge-pump for my shower drain is located under the batteries beneath the companionway. After removing the batteries, a 3/4" inch piece of marine plywood lifts off the top of the sump and you have access to the pump and the hose.
