My Yanmar 3YM30 does not have a temperature gage, just an over-temp alarm. I'd like to install a temp sender unit in the block and find a gateway, interface, whatever, that makes the sender compatible with my Raymarine C70 display as the readout. The C70 has inputs for SeaTalk, SeaTalk2, NMEA 0183. I've seen the Albatross unit for about 500 bux, but I'd like to find a scaled-down version for just one engine parameter, coolant temperature. Any ideas out there?

Not aware of anything like you are looking for but installing a temp gauge is relatively simple. Why not just go with that ??
I doubt that there would be anything that would work with the C70. at this point, its an obsolete display even though its still functional. I have seen applications with the new c7 display for temp, oil pressure, fuel level, etc. I am considering changing in part because my fuel guage and engine panel are located almost at deck level and impossible to see. The only thing that is stopping me is my apparent lack of disposable income and the C70 still works.
I also wanted to use my E120 for engine instruments. Turns out you need an interface which is specific for certain engines. I don't think an interface is available for small diesels. I think you are going to find adding traditional gauges much more economical.
If you are price sensitive then you don't want to do this. Just add an analog gauge.
I have an EM2000 and it provides a wealth of info beyond temp - Oil Pressure, supply voltage, battery volt., alternator voltage, to a Simrad NSE MFD. Gives very precise coolant temp readout on an adjustable dial scale. Programmable to display to the tenth of a degree, digital.
This was installed on a NMEA 2000 network. Maretron sells a similar device. It cables up to your engine wiring harness, and then plugs up to your network, and you have to change out your idiot-light senders.
I don't know that they make one for your smaller engine however. If you get a analog gauge you will still need to change out the coolant sensor. Every bluewater boat engine should have a temp gauge.
