Should I or, should I not?

With out trying to start up a name changing thread again, here's my question.My wife named our new H310 Obsession, their are 3 other boats in our marina with the same name and 6 boats on the in-land lake that I sail on are named Obsession.Gets kinda crazy on the VHF sometimes!With that alone, would you change your boat's name?On the other side, last time I changed the name of a boat (H27), she was struck by lightning!!!Oh dear, what do I do?Thanks for your input...Steve.

Notwithstanding all the pro's and con's cited in previous posts, why not just do it - save the hassle of Obsession-clones on the VHF, and (most importantly) have a grand excuse for a champagne party on board! That is, after all, the best part of the re-naming ceremony!Sounds like an obsession, though....Michael O'Hara

9 boats in the area with the same name!? I think I'd spend some time and try to come up with something more personal and original. Its not something to rush into. How about even a derivation-of like "Magnificent Obsession" or "My Obsession", "Obsessive Behavior", "Can't Get Enough", you get the idea.I'd spend some time thinking.

A risky thing indeed...

Very risky to change the name of a boat.I would do this with great caution, and perhap buy the boat a present as well - like maybe a new main, or a nice ship's clock, or something like that.MC

New name for me...

I have thought of a new name for my H310.She shall now be known as "NOETA"as in "No Estimate Time of Arrival"!Because when I sail, I am in no hurry to get where I am going.What do yah think?Thanks for your help.Steve,s/v NOETA.......P.S.
