Congrats to you on your new to you boat.

I looked at the prop in the linked website. Power to get you and the boat through the currents of the Sound. Three reactions to the image.
  1. Price appears attractive.
  2. The design looks interesting. The shape of the blades look to be mostly traditional. The question is will the design push you through the water not induce drag as prop speed increases.
  3. The size and shape of the blades look to promote drag while sailing.
Consider the CampbellSailor from WestbyNorth.

I enjoyed working with their engineer. The prop has been a great addition to my boat.

I looked at the link too and noted it said:
"...The EP3 Hung Shen NiBral Propellers are designed for optimum performance, particularly for vessels with operating speeds up to 40 knots. This type of propeller has high damage resistance due to its relatively thick leading edge. They are widely used by pilot boats, general purpose vessels, police launches, patrol boats and other similar vessels..."
This would not be the design criteria for a sailboat auxiliary. The prop is optimized for damage resistance which isn't really applicably to sailboats whose props are largely protected by the keel. I'd keep shopping.

What makes you think the prop is bad? Failing props on a sailboat are very rare. There are probably better places to put your money.

If you are going to invest in a new prop, consider a folding or feathering prop. Boat performance will improve.

Looked at my collection of boat parts. I have the same boat and engine that you have. In my collection there is a two blade 14"RH 12 prop that I assume was what the boat came with originally. Previous owner must have replaced that and sent it along with the boat parts when I bought it. When I got the boat, it had a three bladed 14"RH 10 prop. I do not recall how that performed as I only used it for one season in 2002. I replaced that with a three bladed Max Prop 14". After several seasons of trial and error I set the pitch at 8.6", having tried 9.6" and 7.6". For what it is worth, looking at my notes, when i set the Max Prop for 9.6" pitch the engine could not reach full RPM and when I set it for 7.6" I could not reach full speed. The 2QM15 pamphlet that also came with the boat suggested either a 15x9 two blade or a 14x10 three blade. I do not think a 15" diameter will fit and I found the three blade Max Prop 14"x9.6" to be too much. For a three blade fixed prop on your boat I would suggest a 14"RH 9" pitch. The shaft diameter is 1". The prop hub length is 3". The taper appears to be 1" and tapers down to approximately 3/4" over the 3" hub length.

I believe that quote is taken directly from the bible, somewhere.

If you're concerned that it is indeed cursed for whatever reason, take it to a local reputable prop shop and NOT your local yard ape. They can return it to its original condition for a fraction of the cost of a new one. I'm betting there are numerous ones in your area.
