I've sailer II (1975) out of the water nd its home safe and sound on its trailer. The reason I brought her in was less do to the Isabelle threat, than the fact that I had snapped the line which lowers the cb. Is this a repair I should try myself ( semi-competent handyman, or should I take it to a boat yard and have them do the repair? Has anyone attempted/successfully completed this repair? Many thanks.

Rod Johnson,

Doable yourself, boatyard equals $$$

If you are reasonably handy and such, you can do the whole job yourself. I've removed the centerboard twice from my boat and re-inserted it. I did have a bit of help from my Dad both times but help is needed more to get the board in than out. I replaced the 29" line in the CB 2 years ago, will replace the other line this Winter. I may replace the cable as well, but will at least need to repair the block on the cable, since the sheave broke.
