In replacing a frayed forestay, I eliminated one pain with my Hunter 23, that of attaching and adjusting the forestay turnbuckle deep in the anchor well, where there's barely room for a quarter turn of turnbuckle at a time. When I had the replacement stay made up, I ordered it six inches shorter. On the boat, I fashioned a tang of stainless steel which fastens to the "chain plate" in the anchor well, and puts the forestay turnbuckle just under the well lids.
