A few months ago I picked up a 81 Venture 21. good shape. looked at the sails and they appeared to be good. Got it cleaned up , and almost ready to go. I mounted the mainsail in the yard to check things out. Found out that it is 30 inches short on the Luff & 11 inch short on the foot.
Question. How much effect will this reduced sail have on the boat overall sailing. BTW we are using it on Oklahoma lakes
Thanks in Advance
Russ

Hardly any beyond a little extra lee helm, depending on your foresail. Go have fun and sail her!

don't worry about it.

you can raise your boom a foot or so and call it a improvement. :D

We'll call it a fractional main, the story we will use is that it rarely requires being reefed and if we eliminate any hardware on the boom, we can roll it up on the boom like a furling when we are done for the day. Yeah, see? Now we all envy you

You have water in Oklahoma?? Our reservoir is still too low to launch a sailboat, even a Mac :(

I have the Mac 26 at Thunderbird lake ( Norman), Hefner (OKC) which was dry has enough to sail, and another called Draper near Tinker AFB is filling up nice.
