Shore station hoist size

Having had it with trailering, I am going to purchase a boat hoist for my 216 this Summer. I have found a 2000 lb. used Shore Station aluminum hoist which seemingly should be fine but a local dealer says he is sure I will have regrets because it is only 100" wide and of course the 216 is 95" wide. I'm thinking that once the pointy end is in there should be no problem and the side guides will do their job from there on in. Do any of you have experience that can help with this decision?

think hes right

Its sounds real tight. Will the side guides even fit with only 2.5 inches on either side? BTW Harbor springs is nice cruising. Pray for Wind, Lugeman

Depends on your location

If you are in a protected location with not a lot of wind and waves while landing, 5" is plenty of room. If, however, you are faced with occationally landing with trailing winds and waves of notable strength, you would be much happyier with a 108" wide lift. Good pads on the lakeside posts are highly recomended, as you don't have a lot of control, once the keel is up. I cut large boat fenders and put them over my posts and that works well. Jeff Peltier
