We had a huge storm yesterday and overnight with gusts up to 95km/hr, I had a nice big 3'screw anchor in the ground and as a precaution I diploid my danforth anchor.
the anchor rode broke and I think an anchor shackle on the screw anchor broke or the pin worked it self loose.
And the result is that she washed up ashore, the good thing is it is a nice sandy bottom and beach.
We will try to get her floating again tomorrow when the seas calm down an the sun comes out.

A chain is only as strong as it's weakest link. This is a good reminder for all of us. No sense in having a big storm anchor if the rest of the tackle is not up to the job. On the good side your boat just seems to be sitting undamaged on the sand waiting to be pulled back in the water.

Can you dig a little trench in front of your boat during low tide? That might help get her off without damage to the swing keel.

I would routinely pull my 22 into a sandy beach on the snake river. Occasionally I would push it out and pull it back to shore in case the corps was lowering the river

Well she is afloat again, wasn't too bad of a job, I did pump the ballast tank empty, then we tied a 300' line to it and a powerboat slowly pulled her back in the water. the only think that happened, the boat bounced off anther boat and scuffed up one side, there are some big gouges ,but the main thing is she floats and no holes.

Yo K, that sounds like some blow! Glad you got away with only some scrapes - and good thinking to pump her out first. Good that the rudder and keel were stowed. Hey - I can't see any paint on her bottom, did it get scuffed up much?

I have no paint on the bottom so no worries there. Just suffered som big gouges on the side from bouncing up and down against a prop of a party barge.
I called the insurance , told me to take it in to get an estimate, so when she comes out of the water a few weeks from now, I will take her to a boat Fiberglass repair place and have her inspected .
