I have a new to me 27 catalina (84). On shore power, does the 120 go straight to the 120 volt recpicales or through a 12 volt inverter. I can't find a 120-12 v. inverter anywhere on the boat. So,thinking the recp's. are a straight shot to 120. Any ideas?
Thanks , David

Yes, I forgot to ask about the shore power when I bought the "boat"

Shoud be

Typically you have a AC breaker panel which is where you 120ac shore power goes to and then to you recp. Normally a boat of that size would not be carrying an inverter nor a battery bank big enough to feed an inverter that would handle a 120v system.

Near the port winch

Dave,
My 27 has 30 amp service that plugs in near the port winch. That feeds the panel below and the electic plugs thru out the boat. No inverter comes standard with the older 27's that I know of. I installed a cigarette lighter type plug behind the sink [close to the batteries} and I plug in a cheap portable inverter for small electric needs while underway. A third battery will fit on the shelf above the two batteries in the port locker if you need more reserve.
Another project I just finished was to install a flush mount tackel box under the starboard sette in the un-used space to the rear of the water tank. The flush mount tackel box give's me extra draws for fuses, small tools, black tape and,..oh yeah, tackel!
Hope this helps,
Jack

Thanks guys,
New question; have you ever changed out or taken off the main sail. I want to change the old one to a main that is in better shape.
Thanks, David
