I have a 1985 OD 26 and I'm about ready to install shore power system on "Wahoo". I was wondering where did the factory place the cord hookup on the boat. Ben Allen Montgomery, AL "Wahoo" OD 26

Shore Power O'Day 26

Ben, My O'Day has its shore power hook up on the starboard side of the gunwale in line with the cabin/cockpit entrance. The Line is run then beneath the starboard double berth to the breaker panel mounted behind the cabin access ladder. The broker that sold me the boat said the shore power hook up was installed by the factory in '84 to the best of his knowledge. Hope this info is of some use. Regards, Greg Jones O'Day 26 'Encore'

GFI

Ben - Since you're going to get to do this from the ground up (no pun intended) you get to make sure its done right. Make sure every circuit has a GFI in it. I had a rescue call recently to a man standing on a fibreglass ladder, in a basement filled with 6 inches of water, who dropped a power tool into the water while attempting to fix whatever was leaking. His wife called us to get him out of there because he was afraid stepping into the water would electocute him. He explained the ladder was conductive enough that if the water was charged, he would already be shocked, then pointed out the GFI that may have saved him a lot of grief. Justin - O'day Owners' Web

Shore power

Hi Ben, The info from Greg Jones is the same as mine. One problem that I have is that the cover for the connection is a flap or a door and the jib sheet gets hung up on the door and flips it up (open). Maybe a screw on cover would work better. Herb <wave@rockisland.com>
