I'd like to add shore power connections to my 2001 Hunter 260. Any suggestions?

I can take pictures of mine

Tim, My 1998 260 has a shore power connection, port side of the companionway with a 110v connection point in the galley area above the 12v fuse panel. I can get to my boat in the next day or two and take pictures if you'd like, and post them in another response. BTW, the 110v shore power is not connected in any way with any type of converter to the 12v system, in case anyone is wondering. Be back soon, MikeH Perrysburg, OH

Tow Vehicle?

In your pictures you show a conversion van. What is its GVW? Is it set up with a tow package? Regular 1/2T or 2/4T? I'm looking for the right vehicle to tow H26 to Florida or Texas in the fall from Iowa.

Nice Website George

I enjoyed your pictures of your many projects on your web site. I've added your address to my list of places to visit on a regular basis. Reminds me of my site though I haven't completed as many projects as you have. I'm interested in how you support your table in the up position. Main sheet attach...

hi George.. Great projects and Web site. One picture shows a min sheet attachpoint, but I can't see where it is anchored. Is it on the pedistal or the stern rail? Thx, Tom

H260 mainsheet attachment

I attach the mainsheet to the rudder post. Really works great, especially singlehanding in gusty conditions. Go to: http://kobernus.com/hunter260_web/upgrades/misc/target18.html

H260 tow vehicle

My Ford Van E150 is 5.3ltr with tow pkg. The boat weighs 5700lbs w/600 lb tongue wt. and the van 5400. Ford says my GCVW limit is 12000lbs. That does not give me much room for passengers and junk. It tows just fine but I can't use overdrive. Next month I'm taking the rig to Key West. I'll let everybody know how the Equalizer hitch worked out.

Question for George

I have thought for a while it would be a hoot to cruise the country wth a 26 and a conversion van. Would the E250 be better suited for this than the E150.

Rick,

The 150 series is a 1/2 ton chassis. The 250 series is based on a 3/4 ton chassis. Higher load carrying rating, heavier suspension, bigger brakes, heavier duty tires, rear end, shocks, etc. All much better for towing. You give up a little in the ride comfort, but it's worth it. It's also a good idea to add a transmission cooler for towing.

What I am Really Wondering I Guess

Is there enough towing capacity on the van after adding the second AC, TV, fridge, eight track, mirror on the ceiling, and water bed? If I really get serious I'll check with the conversion van compnies it just seems like a cool setup to wander across the country. Or maybe just a Harley and a sleeping bag. Need to get the kids out of the house first.

Hunter 26 shore power winring

Guys, I have looked with envy at the shore power installation photos that have been posted. I am ready to tackle the job myself, only one question still plagues me. #1 How did you run the actual wiring around the inside of the boat. I installed both a depth meter and knot meter in my 26 and it took me 2 days to run the cables up from the bilge. #2 The path from the rear starboard area up through the edge of the starboard liner is filled with fiberglass/foam insulation, and has very little space for any type of conduit installation. Behind the factory 12vdc panel there is almost no room coming up from the starboard liner. #3 How did you run the new 12 vdc wiring under the rear berth headliner and the main cabin headliner forward, and most of all how did you get it to the 12 vdc panel. #4 Running conduit forward around the horseshoe under the lockers for the 110 v outlets. How did you run the conduit from the rear locker and under the galley? Help, am I missing something? Is there a way to pull down or remove the headliners? Any response would be greatly appreciated. The wife would like to have a few plugs to run the little things that make wives happy. TIA, J. R. Setser S/V Lifetimestoo 1998 Hunter 26

E-150 vs E250

The standard garage door is 82", the e-250 is a hair over that but is a better choice for towiing. You can haul your waterbed along.

Glad You Mentioned the Garage Door

We were just talking about changing our 1 car garage 1 car carport into a two car garage. I'll have to look into the taller door.

You really want to know from the Godfather

IF one of you wish to call me, Jim Seamons pass my phone number along. I have installed over 200 of that over the years on the 26 and 260. Again, you may not say where or who I am as I am a dealer out of respect for the forum
