I'm installing a shore power connection on my 25. Most shore connections I've seen are in the stern. Do anyone have shore power connection in the bow area?

shore power placement

I suspect most shore power is placed toward the stern closer to the breakers and to keep the support wiring away from the general work areas. Much of my 12v and 110v wiring is under the cockpit. As a sidenote, with my Oday 25 on the hard, I brought my power cable home for the winter as the cable costs around $500 to replace! Steve!

Shorepower

I can't see why you could not place the inlet closer to the bow. It should of course be mounted on the vertical side of the coachroof. I have mine on the port side beside the first portlight, and built a breaker box (30A), out of wood and fixed it to the inside of the cabin interior. From there I have it split towards the bow (1 outlet) and stern (2 oulets in main salon and 1 in the lazarette). This is not quite to code, but I make sure nothing more than 30 amps is plugged in at once. Steve, you were prudent to take your powercord home. Mine was stolen the week before haulout. I was going to replace it anyways, but on my time not the thief's. A replacement cost of $500 sounds too high. I can get one here (30A, 50') for about $80. Are you looking at the 50A, 50' monsters? oops

Don: Boy, do I feel like a dope. Misread the specs and the cost. Only when I make a very stiff cup of coffee does my shorepower draw that much power. Still, $80 is $80. I have plenty of other boat stuff to buy on the offseason. Thanks for reducing my anxiety. steve!
