Shore power cable problem

My 30 amp shore power cable has one of the connector holes is very black and looks burned.
My AC runs on a 20 amp fuze. Am I drawing too much current? Should I upgrade to a 50 amp shore power cable.
Is there a problem with my electrical system? causing this burnt area.
Any help would be appreciated

Very common and usually the result of a poor mechanical connection between the male and female prongs. Most people either replace the entire cable or splice in a new plug.

GET A NEW CORD! You probably had a loose connection at one time and had a spark at the connection.

Does your boat operate on 30 or 50amp service? Which model and year ?

Minimum...
Get and install new plug for the cord. Do this before you plug in the burnit plug into a pedestal on a dock.
Like today.

Better get a whole new cord. Cords are a consumable item and replacing them occasionally is a safety issue.

I am partial to the Smart Plugs and Cords. They are better designed (mine and others opinion) than the older tech of the Marinco.

One cause of burned plug is if the cord is unplug without first turning off the circuit breaker.
