I am wanting to fit a shoot thru hull transducer on my 1981 hunter 33. Does anyone know if the hull is just regular fiberglass, or does it have abals? core

Solid fiberglass. Probably 3/8" or 7/16" six inches either side of the centerline forward of the keel. Are you pulling an old one out?
I think he wants to install a shoot through the hull as oppossed to a"drill" through the hull fitting
Just put one in this summer. Works well. Tried to install it in the bow but the fiberglass there was too thick and I could not get a signal. Ended up putting it in the original bin in the middle as close to the center-line as possible, on the port side. Easy wiring through the galley to the stern. The fiberglass is solid not cored.
Sorry, I was not clear here - I installed an in-hull puck type 3 years ago. Work better than thru hull.
